As a young child, Kevin Boldenow began photographing his surroundings with his parent’s Brownie Camera. Throughout his life, living in many parts of the USA, he acquired his own camera and has never set his camera down! He has continued to explore photography and build his career as a professional photographer. Kevin Boldenow specializes in 35 mm, medium format and digital landscape and figurative imagery.
Kevin Boldenow began to work primarily in black & white and black & white infrared film, after moving to Flordia in 1996 where he fell in love with the density and drama of the landscape.
His black and white photographs reveal the light and shadow found in this mystical landscape. His compositions are very directional; filled with movement and lines that converge and provide us with easily accessible images.
He gives the viewer an easy entrance into these powerful compositions. Some of his photographs such as the black and white “Melancholy” have an “old world” quality appearing to be beautifully etched or hand drawn. Others such as “Maymont Reflections,” with an array of color, are truly magical landscapes! Kevin’s stated intention is to bring the viewer a sense of serenity and a re-connection to the natural world and I believe he has definitely achieved this!
